I was coming home from work and ended up putting Amnesiac by Radiohead on the stereo. It instantly put me in a great mood, and brought back some great memories. You see, Amnesiac was the album for me. The album that upon first listening, completely changed my life, forever. I got to thinking. We all have that album. I thought, we should make an "official holiday" of this. So, I hereby declare this day, June 24th as ATCYL day. (If a cooler, better name comes about, we can change it lol)

Today, go into your CD collection, or look through your iPod, and find that one special album that completely changed your life. I know you all have one. Put it on. Listen from start to finish. Maybe on headphones, maybe while cleaning your house, maybe on your long drive to or from work, but show that band and that album some love! It will be fun, and I promise you will be glad you did ;) Funny thing is, and maybe sad, I've seen the concept of the "album" really fade over the years. Everything is shuffle, and playlists, and mix CDs. Which are great, but there's just something about a good album. So take some time out and do it. Reminisce!

For fun, spread the word to your friends and post up the name of the band and album here on our blog, or on your Facebook, or the somewhat still breathing Myspace. I'd love to see a compiled list somewhere! Much love and respect to you my friends. Till the next time, peace easy.....

<3
Monty

LA BLOGOTHEQUE

So awhile back I stumbled upon this blog/website/youtube channel "La Blogotheque". Theyre out of Paris and work with sooo many up and coming artists. Artists you should know about. I love their approach.

They do what they call "Take Away Shows".. A take away show is basically a band taking a song out of the normal stage/studio performance, and performing it in a stripped down setting... Walking down a street singing it accapella... Standing in a bathtub...Performing it at a park...

Check it out...

LA BLOGOTHEQUE

- Danny

The Morning Flesh Project - Montano/Nadal

So around last December I was bored so I decided to make a little video. I took all this free archive footage, a few songs I liked, and live footage from a couple shows.... spliced it up, and this is what happened.

I was planning on doing a montage for everyone in the band. Then we went into the studio to record our long awaited Demonstration and this thing kinda got lost in the madness....

With that said it is somewhat unfinished, but I think its gonna stay that way. I like that it showcases Christopher and Jonathan two incredible pieces to this project.... I don't think I can properly express how excited I am for May 30th to be here. We've been talking about this date internally for a long long long time now, and the time has finally come. Although it might be a simple "demo release".....to The Morning Flesh Project it's much much more. We've poured so much into getting this recording done, and it was the first "big step" for us, but it's not just about the disc. We've been working like good little worker bees, to step up the way we promote and present ourselves. This includes things like, new photos, a completely revamped myspace page, business cards, stickers, and of course our beautiful little demo. There's a lot of planning going into our May 30th Demo Release Party, and we do it not only for ourselves, but because we want to throw a show/party like no one else in this little corner of south Florida can throw one, because the bottom line is, it's everyone else who makes this so enjoyable, and this should be something everyone can really enjoy. With that said, there's much work to be done, and much info to spread.....

Let me give you the rundown of our show thus far, and discuss some of the details. First, this is going to be a music/art type of event, ala the original Art Party.....oh how I miss those days (hint, hint).....Basically there will be 5 bands taking the stages, and 6 artists out back displaying their work, with a little mood music in the background. The vibe is going to be something very special. Although it's always been tough for us to throw at genre title at our music, we know there are other bands out there who share the same taste, and passion for real music like we do. May 30th we're going to have 5 of them under the same roof. This is going to be a night of heartfelt, experimental, progressive rock-jazz like no other. It makes me giggle to think that more than half of the bands have horn players lol!! Even a couple others not having many lyrics or vocals in their work. Again this is going to be a monster mash-up of the progressive music movement happening in South Florida. We're proud to be a part of it.

Saturday May 30th, at Churchill's pub, starting at 9pm.

Basically we're trying to put more promotion into this event than ever before. I'm trying to recruit some street team people to spread the word and really get people out to this event. If you're interested in working with us to promote contact us at themorningfleshproject@gmail.com

Here's the lineup for that night, and please take some time to check out the bands we will be playing with. I have them all linked, and they're really worth a listen. Remember friends, spread the word, tell a friend, tell them to spread the word. Our fans are the ones who make this happen every time. Let's make this one a night to remember for a long, long time :)

Saturday May 30th 9pm @
Churchill's Pub
5501 NE 2nd Ave
Miami, FL 33127

The Killer Moon

En Pursuit

The Mauxms

Call it Radar

The Morning Flesh Project

Artists on The Patio will be
Andres Martinez
Fabian De La Flor
Nicole Swift
Michael Baldwin
Ross Ford
Robert Johnston
with a special guest DJ!

Well that's all I got for now kids. The payoffs for some shows are definitely better than others, and I feel like this past show Sat. @ Radio-Active Records in Fort Lauderdale was one of those...

Once we saw the flyer for this show.. we knew itd be a good time. Its def one of my faves of ours lately, we dont do many funny ones.

If you guys have never been to this place, its got a great energy to it... Complete with Vinyls, Concert Posters, and all kinds of Artwork on the walls.. It was a great change of pace from our usual bar/club gigs. The people loved it, I know Chris couldnt leave without buying a few Mahavishnu Orchestra albums (yeaaaaaaa).. My boy Corey jumped straight to the reggae section and fell in love... Everyone had a good time digging through the vast collection of great music... The ladies seemed to wanna hang out around the Disco section O_o

Nadia caught disco fever...

If only Corey would've known there was so much Black Uhuru vinyl, he woulda worked overtime this week.

Jonathan shows his approval of this venue.

The other bands there were really great. In a completely different way from us...which is something I really enjoyed. Acid City Line played a great set, with a cover of "Stand By Me" thrown in there for good measure haha. Really cool... Starmaker in turn ended their set with a cover of "All I Need" by Radiohead... complete with glockenspiel and all. When we noticed what was happening, all of us in the crowd shared a simultaneous "ooooooooos". We def missed the covers memo, were gonna work on that one tho hehe. Great sets by great up and coming bands. check them out sometime.

We played our set to a great loving crowd. We usually get a nice crowd, but this was a bit different. Alotta new faces, and more importantly alot of love. Im at my true best when I can feed off the energy of the crowd, and Im glad they gave me that opportunity. We even got a fuckin ENCORE. First one ever. That blew me away. Thank you.

Afterwards is where things get a bit fuzzy. We found ourselves with a plethora of left over beer, and needing a place to consume it... Radio-Active closes @ 10. Our good friend Mack of local bands Fusik and Ketchy Shuby offered the solution. He lives about 2 min from the venue, and offered up his digs to everyone in the mood to party. The mood was infectious. No one knew where this place was tho...so Mack parked his car in the parking lot with his hazards on... and in what I can only describe as something looking like a crunk funeral procession, we proceeded to our next destination. A line of 10-12 cars or so arrived safely to chez Mack.

This is where the fun starts and my memory goes. I had a ton of interesting conversations with people from all over that had come to the show. It was sooo great to transplant the vibe from the show over to a more intimate open setting. I really enjoyed meeting all the new people, and I hope to see you again soon.

To end the night we made a trip to the Poorhouse in Ft.Lauderdale to catch our good friends Matilda Lights tear it up. They had seen our show earlier that night, and we plugged them shamelessly in hopes to get some peeps out there. Mid-way through their set Ben says "Did you guys catch Morning Flesh earlier?" .... we all cheered and held up our drinks. Ahhh, that made my heart warm. Thanks guys :D. We have experienced alot of love in this scene, and were looking forward to more.

Matilda Lights was marvelous. I had seen them before and knew this, but I'm glad that some of my friends got to find out.

All in all, another night for the books. It wouldntve been remotely possible without everyone who came out... had a drink... talked some shit... and chilled hardcore. Thank you thank you thank you. There will be plenty more.

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(255, 0, 0); Danny was kind enough to set us up with this, and I think it's a great way to communicate and share ideas with the people we love. You'll be seeing plenty of links to cool band's web pages, music videos, and news, and we'll be posting up pics and tidbits from shows and outings too.

I really like the idea of this page as a way to communicate. As most of you probably know, we use our myspace page all the time for promoting and sharing, but there's something really impersonal about myspace. I log on everyday to find an endless stream of ads, bulletins, surveys, promotion, and a thousands of other distracting things. It's really like a giant electronic rat race. We at The Morning Flesh Project prefer intimacy, and want to document this crazy adventure step by step in a much more personal manner. With that said, here are some of the events that have recently taken place, and some of our future plans.

We did a photo shoot last Thursday with a very cool, very professional young lad named Joey Baum. What an experience. We really needed some new pics for promoting ourselves, and haven't really had a good chance to do so since Christopher joined the ranks a while back. Glad to be done with it finally, and we should be receiving the cleaned up versions a couple at a time over the next few weeks. We really had a great time too. We started in the late afternoon at Amelia Earhart Park, and picked about 10 money locations to shoot at. After that we took a trip down to the Grove and found another 10 or 15 locations for some nice shots. This was funny because a group of well dressed men holding various sorts of photography gear and lighting kind of turns some heads. We ended the evening with some shots back at Jonathan's very lovely house, and although I wont go into detail on what we shot, I will say I'm very excited to see the results. If you'd like to see some of his other work go to Joseph Baum's Portfolio and enjoy!

A friend of ours named Robert de los Rios a.k.a. Rookie, recently approached us and asked if he could take on a sort of management/promotional role working with the band, and we gladly accepted. I couldn't be more excited about this. Once our press kit is done he will be sending it out all over the place trying to get us gigs, and radio spots, while helping us plan and manage future tours. We believe this will be a huge weight off our shoulders, and will allow us to really focus on the main part, our music. So cheers to our newest team member, and here's to a happy healthy future!

Although relocating The Morning Flesh Project has been talked about over the last year or so, it's always been put on the back burner and left alone. Everyone has now agreed on a place for us to build our headquarters around, and we can finally start planning this move. Don't get me wrong, I love south Florida, and love love love all the people I know and have come across since I've been down here, but it's time to branch out and really spread it out. You only get out of something what you put into it. We're putting everything into it. I won't go into huge detail about this right now either, as I would like to wait for some more solid planning to take place first. You'll def. be hearing a lot more about this move over the next few months.

Demo is finally done, and I must say I think it sounds and looks fantastic. We put so much work into this thing, and the work has paid off. We are planning a massive "Demo Release Party" for May 30th and are currently working on the line-up for that. We also have a show Friday the 24th at Tobacco Road, and our first Ft. Lauderdale gig is on May 2nd at Radioactive Records. After that its massive planning for May 30th. Even later we will start making plans for our very first tour. Probably a short east coast thing, hitting up Atlanta, Nashville, and a few other south-east locations.

Other than that kiddies, it's business as usual. We are writing and practicing every chance we have. We have a new song, almost completed, and I can't even begin to express how much it moves me. Our new rehearsal space has been a breath of fresh air, and has really allowed us to focus and look very deeply at all of our music. I wont spoil the surprise of the new tracks title, but you'll be hearing it May 30th should you all decide to come to the Demo Release Party. You'd better!!!! OK everyone, that's my rant for now, see you all soon.

-Monty
